The owners of this home near the University of Denver came to Ascent for help brainstorming ways to make the home work for their family. The discussion began with questions about remodeling a basement bathroom, but as the owners explored what they really wanted from their home with the help of principal Justin Bride, they realized they needed additional square footage. Because the site wasn’t large enough to accommodate a back-of-the-house addition, the homeowners concluded that the wisest decision would be to add a second story. Architect John Collins designed the remodel, which comprised 3,200 square feet of new or remodeled space.
The renovation not only gave this family a first-floor open layout that includes their dream kitchen, which spans the full width of the home, but it also allowed them to stay in the neighborhood they have come to love.
